Another great find at my local “Boutique” (the Goodwill store)…
I’m a regular there and the employees know the kind of stuff I’m on the hunt for. They can’t save anything for me so I need to stop there frequently (Kathy gets jealous about that part).
Because this storage chest was easy to take apart, we (oh yeah, the hubs got in on this one too!) opted to disassemble it before painting. It’s so much easier to prime and paint flat pieces.
I chose a cheery yellow because I like kids items to be gender neutral. Like the story time table set I finished a couple months ago. Although I’m dying to paint something pink! A layer of clear coat was added to protect the paint after it was put back together.
I chose to make this piece a little more comfy by upholstering it. This gave me a chance to add a pop of color.
I added batting to the seat and covered it with fabric. I went with a more modern fabric because it makes the piece more current.
Storage chests & benches like this one could also be used in an entry hall or mud room for shoe storage.
This piece actually sold before we could even post about it!
The Little Yellow Storage Chest will have a new home at Mi Casita Early Learning Center in Cleveland, Ohio… and this makes us very happy. Thank you, Molly!
