On a visit to Kathy’s “Glory Hole” where we “mega pick”… I’m simply referring to her Craigslist connection!… I spotted this mirrored piece and knew it was my next project.
The cabinet looks pretty bad but all it really needed was a few things: I had to fill in some spots with wood filler, sand the filler, glue the mirrors back on and paint the cabinet.
I first tried silver because the original black paint was too gothic, like an Adams Family prop. But the silver paint I used was too bright and something didn’t look right about it. Then I noticed the mirrors had a gold tone to them. So I went for it.
I left the lion handles silver and asked Kathy what she thought, she chose black. I like her choice.
This cabinet’s interior has a scent of cedar wood and would make a great masculine liquor cabinet so that’s how we staged it. But you might have something else in mind.
We like to give our projects nicknames. Kathy likes the unique legs, antiqued mirrors and particularly the lion’s head hardware so she came up with “The Lion’s Roar”. I just go with it. Hehe!
