Let me first say, this is a non-paid intern position… WITH potential for growth.
This position is ideal for someone (any gender, any age) who wants to build their resume, re-enter the workforce, or the budding entrepreneur who wants to learn about Etsy and how to take a great product photograph.
If you know someone who might be interested, please share the link to this post or this image:
Here are answers to questions our future intern may have:
Where will I work?
At our shop in Lakewood, 13383 Madison Avenue.
What will my hours be?
You choose your days and times, but they must be during our open hours (Tues, Wed & Thurs 10am to 6pm; Friday & Saturday 10am to 4pm). Ten (10) hours a week would be great.
Will someone train me?
Yes, that will be me, Kathy; the younger sister who everyone thinks is the older sister. 😉 Karen loves this.
What do I need to bring with me to work?
Just yourself and an amazing work ethic! I will provide all of the tools and supplies.
What will I learn?
How to take a good photograph with a DSLR Camera (I call it my “fancy” camera), how to crop and enhance images, how to run an Etsy shop, draft listings and how to ship items. Two years ago, a friend taught me the basics of using the camera and I’m pretty sure the lesson was 10 minutes long so trust me, I’ll keep it simple.
What skills should I have for this position?
- You should have basic computer skills including how to navigate the Internet
- How to upload photos from a card reader. You don’t have to know how to use a DSLR camera, but be excited to learn a couple of basic skills.
- Writing skills to write item descriptions
- Research skills or some knowledge of vintage home décor would be great too; you’ll need to do research on Etsy or use search engines to find detailed information and values of vintage items. This is pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it. I just need someone who can take the time to do it.
What else is in it for me?
You get to work with two fun sisters?!
All jokes aside, we have been focusing on our brick and mortar location since October when we opened. Starting in April we have to focus on the upcoming “The Cleveland Flea” events as well as “The Summer Market” in July, so we can really use some help with our online shop.
If this internship is as successful as I envision, I am hopeful that this position could grow into something more.
If interested, please contact me at 216-406-1461 or send an email to: Kathy@thesalvagedboutique.com. Karen and I look forward to meeting you!
On a different note, we have two newly listed workshops. These have become extremely popular so if you’d like to participate, be sure to book sooner rather than later, before they sell out.
