I know we’ve been quiet. And if we’re quiet, it’s usually because we’re really busy so I thought I’d take a few minutes to update you on some of the projects we’ve been working on.
The Little Free Library Project was a popular post and a big hit on our social media pages with lots of comments and questions. We are happy to say that we were able to finish the libraries just in time!
Don’t they look so official?
The libraries were displayed at the Cleveland FBI Office and they were presented to eight different law enforcement agencies in our area.
With quotes like, “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book,” we decided to go with a Dr. Seuss theme. 🙂
Here’s a closer look at a few of our favorites:
This is one project we are definitely proud of. Click here for more information about the Little Free Library Organization.
We also recently signed up to participate in the Lakewood Kiwanis 2016 Scarecrow Festival. Residents, organizations and businesses on Madison were asked to join in on the fun, and we decided why not?
It’s no surprise but we chose to make an upcycled scarecrow, and we only used items that we already had in the shop and studio. Meet “SHADY-CROW,” or I now call her “SHADY LADY.”
What a DIVA. 😉
Karen came up with the brilliant idea to make her body out of the lamp shades we had in the basement. The rest fell into place as we pieced her together. We used wood from our workshop area to create the cross stand, lace doilies for clothing, kitchen towels to make her shirt, a burlap bag for her head and face, and we accessorized her with a pearl necklace and a vintage purse from our Etsy shop.
My favorite part? Her raffia braided hair!
Also, we recently had a few workshops in the studio, including a private workshop with a group of friends celebrating a birthday. Thank you to Sarah and crew! It was a fun Friday night. How cute are their signs?!
The next day we hosted a Chalky Paint 101 workshop. This was one focused group. Their furniture pieces all turned out great.
I’ll share the whole album on Facebook, but here’s a great before and after from that day.
That color! It’s “Anchor” by Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint.
I also need to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who refers us or shares our information on social media. Sarah found out about our private workshops when she saw a friend post a picture on Facebook. It’s because of this and word-of-mouth that we have become what we are. THANK YOU!
Phew. That was a lot to cover in one post, but one more thing… Have you saved the date for our one year anniversary event?
We’ll be sharing more details about our anniversary event next week. In the meantime, add the event to your Facebook feed by clicking here.
